Welcome to Okay Design. As is true of most freelance website design companies, this is a one-man operation. My name is John Becker, and I'm based in Knoxville, TN. Because I handle all aspects of your website design, arranging for domain name registration, and setting up site hosting, you'll never have to wonder who's handling your business. It'll be me, the same person you contact when you have a question, a problem, or an idea.

I've been working and playing with computers since 1978, from IBM and DEC mainframes to Pentium III and Sun Unix-based workstations. In that time, I've done a lot of graphics, a lot of coding, and a lot of learning. I learned HTML from the ground up, and have kept up with its enhancements as they have come about.

I designed my first website as a picture album for a vacation I took in 1996, and have been designing different sites ever since. This may not sound like much of a history, until you consider that the World Wide Web was invented in 1993. I have done site designs since 1997 for businesses and private individuals, from expansive professional sites to single-page photo albums. Some of these sites are featured on the portfolio page.

The graphics you see were created by me, using professional software on my home computer. I received personal training in design, and the use of industry-standard graphics tools, from the Art Director of a major advertising firm. This means that your site will have a professional presentation, not the amateurish mess of lesser sites. The importance of the overall look of a website cannot be overstated, and I take this aspect of the process very seriously.

Although I generally rely on my customers to supply all copy for their sites, I can supply added value in this department. Spellcheckers are fine, but I also proofread all the text that makes up your site. Nothing takes the air out of a site like misspelled words or questionable grammar. I will see to it that you will never find that kind of embarrassing mistake on your site.

I believe all of the above makes Okay Design the right choice for your site design needs. If you agree, drop me a line (click the "Contact" link) so we can get started!
